Started the day off all fine, and normal, arrived early... cleaned up a few cars on the lot...
started mowing the lawn...
Mower starts rattling violently, to the point my hands start getting numb, just as I almost finish mowing the section in front of the car wash...
tightening screw slipped off, and got munched by the mower.
Shop foreman drills handlebar with a self tapping screw to replace the tightening screw, finds hole in mower body, and welds it up, while I take the weed whacker.
mower still rattles..
Exhaust falls off, screws are nowhere to be found, I put the exhaust parts aside to replace later.
height adjustment collapses on the front, and refuses to hold, pulling grass out of the ground in the process.
air filter assembly falls off, and gets reinstalled 5 times before the screw got chewed up by the blades.
Run mower and immediately gets clogged with grass. This is when I call it a day mowing outside. I just experienced a lawn mower commit suicide er.. Seppuku.
I decided to make use of myself and untangle a box of Christmas lights after this ordeal to get my frustration out. I later checked for play on the mounting of the engine to body, and it moved about 2 cm each way.
Screw me.
I’m SO done.

Speaking of that, you free in July? Possible Ottawa Oppo meet-up for go-karting that thebigbossyboss and I briefly discussed. It would be after he gets back from his trip, of course, so we were just spitballing possible dates.

Let it die. Looks like a cheap Weedeater or Lawn Machines model or something. Have the shop get an cordless electric one that can use the same batteries as a tech’s drill/driver/flashlight etc. Quiet, lightweight, efficient, and fewer moving parts.
